Ahh...Westerns...definitely not my genre, which is why it probably took Birgit to suggest to finally become a theme on TMP but I have seen a few; mostly the newer ones. My picks today are the ones I like.
One of my most recent watch. It's sort of a quirky poetic fish-out-of-water story set in the American West. The scenery in this was just very beautiful, the music too and I just overall really enjoyed the movie. The gist of it is a Scottish teen goes on a journey to find the girl he loves who is, with her father, on the run and has come to the West to hide out. Along the way the boy meets a mysterious man whom he pays to guide him as the journey begins to become more and more dangerous.
A rancher takes up the dangerous job of escorting an outlaw to the 3:10 to Yuma train. It has been a quite a while since I've seen this, so my memory of it is hazy, but I do remember liking it a lot.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
Another one that I haven't seen in a long time, but yeah I think it's as great as everyone says it is. In short it's a buddy movie of two robbers trying to escape from the law..
