Hello there and welcome to Thursday Movie Picks a weekly series where you share three movie picks each Thursday. The rules are simple simple: Each week there is a topic for you to create a list of three movies. Your picks can either be favourites/best, worst, hidden gems, or if you're up to it one of each. For further details visit the series main page here.

This week's Thursday Movie Picks is Store/Supermarket/Mall Movies

---

The store/supermarket/mall; those places we used to hang out at which is now increasingly being replaced by the net. I'm picking favourites this week:

The Good Girl (2002)
A married woman has an a affair with a co worker at a discount store. Everyone here is just bored stuck and pretty unhappy, but the movie is really good.

The Mist (2007)
When creatures descend upon a small town, it's inhabitants seek shelter at the supermarket. I've picked this movie several other times before for other topics. Love it! It also stars some of the actors who would eventually be in The Walking Dead.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)
It's the zombie apocalypse and a band of survivors hole up at a shopping mall. I thought it was really good and am curious how the originals is.

  1. I've only seen The Good Girl. I thought the acting was excellent but found the movie less so on the whole. I've heard of The Mist but keep hearing that it is ultimately pretty depressing so I've put off watching. Dawn of the Dead and all those films really aren't my cup of tea.

    1. The Mist ending is actually hopeful for humanity but for the main character it was depressing.

  2. Dawn of the Dead is already on my watchlist, and I'm adding The Mist immediately. There are so many people from The Walking Dead there!

    1. Haha yeah, I think the director was the TWD first season showrunner so he probably had something to do with it.

  3. Love your picks! I also chose Dawn of the Dead. The Mist, God that ending...

  4. I wasn't sure about The Good Girl mostly because, as you said, everyone is stuck. I haven't seen the other two - not a horror fan and The Mist's ending was ruined ages ago hahaha

    1. Oh nooo...but its not a movie that just relied on the ending, still a good movie to watch even if the ending has been spoiled.

  6. I've only seen The Good Girl, and that is a damn fine pick. I should really see The Mist, but I got spoiled on the ending and never did it.

    1. Oh no! Although it's still a good movie to watch even if the ending's been spoiled.

  7. I've only seen The Mist. Marcia Gay Harden owned that movie, for me. Need a rewatch, though.

  8. The Mist has one of the most unforgettable endings for me. I also picked The Good Girl for this week.
